UDA Takes TVAA Softball Crown

Upper Dauphin Area beat Millersburg 7-4 to claim the TVAA Softball title. The Trojans who trailed 2-1 through 3 innings had a two out rally in the bottom of the 4th inning to spark them to victory.

The Indians came out swinging in the first inning when Lydia Troutman and Cheyenne Phillips would use back to back singles to drive in Mckenna Border and Lacy Strait, giving the Indians a 2-1 lead..

The Trojans still trailed 2-1 in the bottom of the 4th when Emily Fox would get things started driving in Gracie Miller to tie things up. Ali Snyder would then follow up with a shot up the middle to drive in Kendra Schlegel and give UDA a 3-2 lead. The Trojans would add another run when Lea Lenker would double and an Indian error allowed Ali Snyder to score. UDA would lead 4-2 at the end of the 4th inning.

UDA would score three more runs in the bottom of the 6th when Grace Klinger would blast one to deep left center field for a triple driving in 2 more runs. A Millersburg throwing error would allow Klinger to advance home running the score to 7-2.

The Indians would attempt a comeback of their own in the top of the 7th inning when Mariah Armor and Tatum Lloyd were able to score but it was too little to late.

The Trojans and the Indians will both be advancing to District playoffs next week and open up play on Thursday May 26th. MIllersburg (#2 Seed) will host rival Halifax (#3 Seed) in the Class A semi-finals while Upper Dauphin (#6 Seed) opens up play when they travel to Kutztown (#3 Seed) in the Class AA quarter-finals.
