TVAA Basketball Races Heating Up

With the TVAA Basketball Playoffs less than two weeks away we thought we would take a look at both the girls and boys divisional races as the season comes to a close.

The Juniata Indians have dominated league play with a perfect 10-0 mark in the Western Division. The Indians have clinched the division while Newport (7-4) and Greenwood (5-6) remain alive for the second. The Buffaloes need to win one of their remaining league games Juniata (10-0) and Susquenita (3-8) while the Wildcats will need a little help and win their final two league games as they face East Juniata (1-8) and Line Mountain (0-9).

The Eastern Division in the boys play remains wide open as Halifax (8-3) , Lancaster Country Day (7-3), and Millersburg (6-4) are remain in the hunt. The Wildcats have two league games remaining against Juniata (10-0) and Lancaster Country Day (7-3). The Cougars of Lancaster Country day control their own destiny. If the Cougars can finish out with three consecutive wins against Halifax (8-3), Upper Dauphin Area (4-6), and Line Mountain (0-9). The Indians will need a little help but if they win out could earn a playoff berth with victories over Upper Dauphin (4-6), Line Mountain (0-9), and Susquenita (1-8).

The Lady Indians have also dominated league play on the girl’s side with a perfect 11-0 mark clinching the Western Division. East Juniata (6-3) and Greenwood (6-4) remain in the hunt for the last spot in the West. The Tigers have 4 league games remaining with Upper Dauphin (4-6), Millersburg (0-11), Newport (4-7), and Juniata (11-0). The Wildcats have Susquenita (3-8), Upper Dauphin (4-6), and Juniata (11-0) remaining.

The Lady Wildcats of Halifax have clinched one of the playoff sports in the Eastern Division as they sport a 9-1 league record. Line Mountain (5-4) and Upper Dauphin (4-6) are in contention to claim the second spot. The Eagles have 3 league games remaining with Millersburg (0-11), Newport (4-7), and Lancaster Country Day (3-7). The Lady Trojans will need some help and will have to win against East Juniata (6-3), Lancaster Country Day (3-7), and Greenwood (6-4).

It should be an exciting finish to the TVAA Basketball regular season as teams jockey for playoff spots. The league playoffs will open up the week of February 13th. A detailed schedule should be available later next week.
