TVAA Girls Basketball Playoff Preview
The TVAA girls basketball playoffs will begin with the Semi-Finals on Wednesday, February 15th. Juniata will host Line Mountain while Halifax will host East Juniata with all games beginning at 6:00 PM
The Juniata Indians claimed the western division title with a perfect 13-0 league mark and finished the regular season with a 20-1 record. The Indians are lead on the floor by Josie Swartz, who leads the team in points averaging 18 points a game. Julie Swartz is the another player to watch as she runs the Indian offense.
Claiming the second place position behind Halifax is Line Mountain. The Lady Eagles battled hard for that second place position spot with a league record of 6-5 and overall record of 8-9. Line Mountain’s Maura Lundy and Lacey Snyder show the team’s height advantage as they are leaders in most blocks.
In the eastern division, Halifax claimed the top with a league record of 12-1 and an overall record of 19-3. On the court, the Lady Wildcats are led by Brynn Miller along with her teammate Brianna Turner, who both hit 1000 points this season. Melody Davis will also be helping out the Wildcats while she crashes the boards on both the offensive and defensive sides.
East Juniata qualified for the playoffs by finishing 2nd in the Western Division with an 9-4 league record and 14-7 overall. The Tigers have proved they deserve to be in the playoffs by edging out Greenwood, winning their last 2 league games. Leading the Lady Tigers is Laurel Amey, who leads the team in scoring with an average of 18 points a game.
