TVAA Softball and Baseball Playoff Update
SOFTBALL RESULTS
The Lady Trojan Softball team dominated Susquenita last evening in the softball semi-finals 13-4. UDA used a nine run second inning which featured back to back home runs by Lexi Weaver and Mickayla Grow to blow things open early and never looked back.
Greenwood shut out Millersburg in the other semi-final game 3-0. This game was scoreless most of the way but the Wildcats were able to break through in the bottom of the fifth with the bases loaded when Nikki Willi drew a walk to give the Wildcats the lead. Courtney Fleisher then came to the plate and hammered in two runs with a double. Fleisher got it done in the circle as well pitching a complete game with two strikeouts and walking one while allowing no runs and just three hits.
The girls will now play Greenwood in the Championship game on Friday. The game will be held at Newport HS with first pitch at 4:30 PM.
BASEBALL RESULTS
The UDA baseball team battled Millersburg last evening in the opening round of the TVAA playoffs. The Trojans and Indians were tied up 3-3 going into the final inning of play but the Trojans would pound out seven runs to take a 10-3 lead going into the bottom of the 7th inning, where Garrett Clough closed the door and retired all three Indian batters. The baseball action will continue tonight as UDA will travel to Susquenita to take on the Blackhawks and Juniata travels to Halifax to take on the Wildcats. Both games start at 4:30 PM.
